Kenna Personal Artist Statement
Kenna - Personal Statement ARTIST STATEMENT

"I find metalsmithing as the best way to express my creativity. I view my jewelry as miniature sculptures. I enjoy working with sterling silver, copper, brass and bronze. I like mixing metals to give my pieces color variation and depth. I use different color stones which I feel gives my work a different look. I also incorporate different textures and oxidations into my jewelry to create a style all my own. "In addition to metalsmithing I enjoy sewing, painting, beadwork, and ceramics. I feel these hobbies give me ideas for my work with metal. I also observe the natural elements around me. I use what I see around me and incorporate it into my jewelry."

"In the studio I like to experiment. I am never afraid to try something new. I want my jewelry to be unique. I feel exploring new ways of creating help give my pieces their own identity. My pieces are one of a kind and never reproduced."
